I spent 45 minutes on the phone with Apple technical support this evening. While they did not confirm to me that there is a problem, the second-line technician did acknowledge that they are investigating a large number of similar reports.

If you are a .Mac subscriber here is some news for you. Apple has released an update to its Backup software. Version 3.1.1 is available to download now and adds improvements for backing up and restoring with external drives, better memory management and restoring of bundled file types. You will need OS X 10.3.9 or later to run Backup.
Great news (for US users) is that the South Park series is available on the iTunes Store, with the next series coming soon. The episodes are completely uncensored, so prepare yourself... the big shame, from a UK perspective, is that we are still waiting for some good video content on the UK Store. Come on Apple, deliver us the goodies.
Amazingly, a simple sqlite command on your Mail.app envelope file can dramatically speed up the operation of the program!
