Open Planet Ideas with WWF & Sony

Sony and WWF want to hear your smart ideas about using technology to make the most of our planet's resources. And to get you started, we've pulled together a showcase of technologies that are ripe for re-purposing. Now it's up to you to put them together in radical new ways... and shape a cleaner, more sustainable future for our planet.

WWF and Sony have teamed up to create Open Planet Ideas, a new community that will have the mission to brain storm and collaborate to come up with viable ideas to tackle critical environmental issues.

Philips Wake Up The Town - Arctic Experiment

At the end of October Philips began an experiment where they took the Philips Wake-up Light to the northern most town on the planet to see what effects it would have on the residents there. In Longyearbyen, the sun doesn't rise for 4 months, so if it can work for those living in perpetual darkness, it can work anywhere!

Can the Wake-up lights help them feel more refreshed through the months of darkness? Part 1 of a series of films by Doug Pray.

Interesting times are ahead, to see if this becomes the primary way to purchase, download and install applications on our Mac desktops and laptops. Be sure to visit the Geekanoids website for a review of the Mac App Store when it goes live.
