TuneWiki Launches New Social Music Player

TuneWiki announced that its new Social Music Player, launching today on the Android platform, offers the most expansive set of features ever seen in a mobile music player. In its simplest form, users can enjoy the new player to listen to music while viewing synchronized lyrics.  For those looking for deeper and more social engagement, TuneWiki also offers an extensive and immersive set of discovery features new to music services, including the ability to create a unique and personalized music profile that can be shared with their friends.

TuneWiki’s Social Music Player, with a completely re-designed user interface, continues to offer its award-winning feature for real-time, subtitled lyrics that are displayed while users listen to their music.  Lyrics are instantly translated into more than 40 languages, maintaining TuneWiki’s role as the global lyrics resource for music lovers.  Users can still seamlessly connect to other streaming radio apps such as SHOUTcast™, music videos, on-demand services, and TuneWiki’s best-selling music game, Lyric Legend.   Users can now also download the beta version of a new desktop application on TuneWiki that provides synchronized lyrics and the ability to sync music from a desktop library to a mobile device.

Creating the ultimate destination for music discovery, the new Social Music Player allows TuneWiki users to view and sample songs that others are listening to around the world through Song Maps or by exploring the geo-specific Top 50 charts.  Users can find their friends on their social network of choice, or discover and follow like-minded music fans through the Song Maps feature.  These friends or music fans then become a user’s ‘Muse,’ and the music that a Muse listens to is automatically deposited into a SongBox within the app that becomes the central location for song recommendations.  As a user’s network of Muses grows, so will his or her ability to discover new music.

Additionally, users will have the unique ability to discover more music from their favorite or newly discovered artists by seeing not only the songs they own by these artists, but also the songs they don’t--with the opportunity to then immediately sample, purchase or view a music video for that song.  The newly designed company website recreates the mobile experience on the web so users can watch music videos with lyrics, view their profile, find and follow Muses, and add or edit lyrics to songs.

“In today’s digital age, there are many different ways for people to enjoy music, and we want all of these users to have a place where they can come together as a community,” said Larry Goldberg, CEO of TuneWiki. “Our new player builds upon the engaging listening experience that has excited TuneWiki fans for years by adding the ability to discover new songs and artists enjoyed by others, creating a comprehensive listening and social environment not found in any other music application.”

Mobile Phone Technology Moving at Lightning Speed

Mobile phone technology is moving faster than ever and now with smartphones available for an affordable price, our phones are doing more and more for us than ever before. Not all smart phones are fantastic though and, as with anything, there are some phones that are better than others. Some are faster, some have better features, some have the best software; there are many reasons why phones are classed as good. Here is a quick rundown of some of the very best smartphones in the world and why they are considered as such.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc
Incredibly impressive hardware and great aesthetics are what you can expect from the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc as the best smartphone from Sony Ericsson approaches a year in the smartphone market. It has some flaws, but the high points make up for it and then some, with the phone's 8.1 megapixel camera being one of these.

iPhone 4
The world's most popular smartphone and for good reason, it has some of the best hardware, including a screen on which the human eye cannot pick out any individual pixel, and some great software as well. Although there are some dual core phones that are now moving past it, this is the best single core phone on the market.

Samsung Galaxy S II
The original Galaxy was great but this follow up is really much better. A dual core 1.2 GHz processor and a great 4.3 inch screen, perfect for watching movies, are just two of the reasons why you should buy this phone. The web browsing, utilising Flash, is seamless and the camera is good enough to use as a digital camcorder. The best phone in the world today by some margin.

HTC Desire
The next Desire is out soon but this is still a fantastic phone and offers a cheap alternative to many of the other smart phones out there. The phone utilises the Android software like no other and is still up there with the best a year after its release.

SEAGATE DEBUTS FIRST STORAGE FOR iOS DEVICES

Seagate, today announced GoFlex Satellite™ mobile wireless storage, the first battery-powered external hard drive to wirelessly extend the storage capacity of any Wi-Fi enabled mobile device. With 500GB and Wi-Fi access over 802.11 b/g/n and a rechargeable battery, this latest member of the GoFlex® family provides the ability to carry an entire library of video, music, pictures and documents with you. Devices are wirelessly connected directly to the GoFlex Satellite drive by use of the free GoFlex Media™ app—available now on iTunes and the Apple App Store—or a web browser.

GoFlex Satellite is available immediately for preorder from Seagate.com, Amazon and BestBuy.com for a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $199.99, and is scheduled to arrive in Best Buy stores in July 2011.  Global availability is planned for later this summer.
“With the growth of the tablet and iPad markets and the larger volumes of high-quality media now being consumed, there is a clear need for access to content that is not plagued with the challenges of streamed video over the Internet,” said Patrick Connolly, vice president and general manager of Seagate’s retail group. “The unfortunate fact is that these popular new mobile devices are hampered by their limited storage capacity while one of their primary functions is that of media consumption.
“With the GoFlex Satellite mobile wireless storage, we wished to create an elegant solution that provides real value to the multitude of iPad users out there by delivering a seamless connection to local storage. No longer will a consumer feel as though it is a compromise to purchase a lower capacity tablet or iPad. With GoFlex Satellite, people will be able to carry their entire media library with them without the need for wires or the web at a fraction of the cost of adding 3G or purchasing or a higher capacity tablet.”

Streaming over the Internet has enabled video access for tablet owners, but the quality is at the mercy of the Internet connection, be it over Wi-Fi or 3G/4G. With more connected devices per hotspot, it’s often difficult to watch video without choppiness or pixilation. Rather than rely on a buffered stream from a distant provider, GoFlex Satellite mobile storage wirelessly serves up media content as a local attached storage for up to three devices at the same time. With a stand-by battery life of up to 25 hours, the powerful lithium polymer battery delivers up to 5 hours of continuously streaming video. To help with extending battery life, the free GoFlex Media™ app provides a progressive download feature, which temporarily loads the video on to the iOS device it is being streamed to, allowing the drive to go into stand-by mode.

GoFlex Media™ App
Initially available for Apple iOS devices, such as: iPad, iPhone and iPod touch; the GoFlex Media app provides a seamless way to connect the mobile wireless storage to your iPad or iPhone. The Android app is expected to be available by this summer. Those that currently use an Android smartphone or tablet can access content on a GoFlex Satellite device through its browser.

Media Sync software
The easy-to-use Media Sync software, also included free with purchase, makes grabbing media from a Windows® PC or Mac® OS X computer a breeze. Wherever the files are stored, whether that is a file structure of your own creation or in an iTunes library, the Media Sync software will load all of your desired music, videos, photos and documents on to the GoFlex Satellite drive. Media Sync is easily configured to only place files on the drive that are compatible with your iOS device. Even music and videos purchased through iTunes can be loaded to the GoFlex Satellite drive and will play on all authorized devices.

Loading Media
For rapid loading of media content, the wireless mobile storage comes equipped with the superfast USB 3.0 cable to get files from your computer to the GoFlex Satellite drive. The USB 3.0 cable will also continue to work with USB 2.0 ports and is easily removed for portability. In addition to the USB 3.0 cable, the GoFlex Satellite drive comes complete with a car charger and a compact wall charger.

TOMTOM UP THE STANDARD FOR BASIC SATNAVS

Today, TomTom brings heightened comfort and style to the first-time satnav category with the new TomTom Start 20 series.  In this series, TomTom combines an attractive design, larger screen sizes and a new operating system for even smarter navigation.

"New satnav users can benefit from enhanced safety and comfort, all wrapped up in a very stylish, easy-to-use package," says Corinne Vigreux, Managing Director Consumer at TomTom. "No other satnav provider offers such good looks and intelligent features in a range that is predominantly aimed at first-time buyers."

The TomTom Start 20 series gives drivers a bigger and better view of their route. This is thanks to a choice of larger - 4.3" or 5" - screens. They feature a new design that is also safe and practical. The orientation sensor within the devices - coupled with the fully integrated flip screen mount - lets drivers mount their device to their dashboard, automatically rotating the screen 180 degrees. All they need to add is a dashboard mounting disk.

TomTom has added two million kilometres of new roads to the maps in the Start 20 series, including roads in rural areas, enhancing graphics for built-up areas, water features and forests. The maps contain twice as many Points of Interest (POI) as before, and the POIs themselves are richer - offering details such as phone numbers and opening hours. Maps also feature IQ Routes, to give drivers reliable arrival times.

Add Speed Camera warnings* to alert drivers to upcoming fixed speed camera locations, and the "Help Me!" emergency menu to give drivers local emergency information quickly, and it's everything any new driver could need to truly get started with navigation.

Pricing

The TomTom Start 20 (UK/Republic of Ireland maps) has a 4.3" screen and costs -  £129.99.
The TomTom Start 20 Europe has a 4.3" screen and costs -  £149.99.
The TomTom Start 25 Europe has a 5" screen and costs -  £169.99.

From 13th May, HTC Flyer will be available in the following territories, both in-store and through HTC.com: UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Greece, Portugal, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Romania.

Premium Design and Performance
Weighing as little as a paperback book and encased in sleek aluminium, the HTC Flyer exudes the style and premium build quality that have forged HTC’s reputation in the smartphone market. With a seven-inch display, lightning fast 1.5Ghz processor and high-speed wireless capabilities, the HTC Flyer tablet is perfect for those who have been waiting for a tablet that is both compact and powerful.

HTC Sense for Tablet
HTC Flyer’s tablet-focused HTC Sense experience focuses on surprising and delighting people with its gorgeous 3D home screen. Similar to the experience unveiled on the new HTC Sensation, a unique carousel of widgets puts your most important content and information at the visual center of the experience and offers uncompromised Web browsing with Flash 10 and HTML 5.

Streaming Mobile Movies with HTC Watch
The HTC Flyer is the first tablet to premiere HTC Watch, HTC’s new video download service, offering more than 600 premium movies and TV shows from major studios. Video content can be bought or rented and watched immediately through progressive download. Once purchased, movies are stored in a “cloud locker”, allowing up to five registered HTC devices to download and play the same content.

HTC Scribe Technology
HTC Scribe Technology introduces a wave of integrated digital ink innovations that make it easy and natural to take notes, sign contracts, draw pictures, or even write on a web page or photo. Note-taking has been made smart for the first time by synchronising natural onscreen handwriting with Timemark audio recording. Tapping on a word in your notes instantly takes you to that exact place in time in the audio recording, ensuring you can place your notes in the context of any conversation or meeting. Notes are also integrated with the calendar so when there is an appointment reminder you are automatically prompted with an opportunity to begin a new note or in the case of recurring meetings, to continue where the last meeting left off.  In an industry first, the HTC Flyer tablet also features built-in synchronization with Evernote, the world-leading notes application and service.
