Panasonic video reveals Lumix GH3 Micro Four Thirds camera: 16MP, magnesium alloy, 60p video

Though the GH3 has yet to be formally introduced to the world, a video has just appeared on an official Panasonic YouTube channel that has either been posted accidentally or is deliberately intended to build hype in the run-up to Photokina. It mainly shows off the GH3 in a range of picturesque shooting situations, but the clip also spills a few key specs, including the presence of a 16-megapixel sensor, a new version of Panny's Venus Engine processor, a splash- and dust-proof magnesium alloy build and high-definition filming at up to 72Mbps and 60p -- although it's not clear if it handles full 1080 at that high frame-rate. We also see a a flip-out LCD that looks much the same as the GH2's, an f/2.8 12-35mm lens attached instead of the 14-42mm or 14-140mm glass that came bundled with that predecessor, and so far only evidence of a traditional black color scheme.

Lightning to HDMI and VGA cables incoming, says Apple

Apple has already announced a 30-pin adapter for the iPhone 5's new Lightning standard, but its product page betrays a pair of limitations: "video and iPod Out not supported." That's nothing another accessory can't fix, of course. According to The Verge, Cupertino has plans to release Lightning to HDMI and VGA cables "in the coming months," giving early adopters something to pine for on day one. No word on pricing or specificavailability of course, but we wouldn't be surprised to see it hover around the existing adapter's $29 price tag. Fine by us, assuming it pulls its weight.

LG Optimus L9 saunters through FCC, asks for a Martini

LG's latest L-series smartphone, the Optimus L9, has just breezed (elegantly) through the FCC's radio frequency trial-by-screwdriver. The dinner-jacket-white clad Android smartphone is part of the "L-Style design philosophy" from the Korean maker, which emphasizes budget panache over brute performance. As such, it's a handsome but plasticky device, with a 4.7-inch IPS screen, ICS, qtranslator language app, dual-core 1GHz CPU, 1GB of RAM, 2,150mAh battery and 5-megapixel shooter. Vodafone in Europeshowed the price as €340 unsubsidized or €50 on contract, but a member of the L-series family has yet to cross the pond. However, a surprise peek of its Optimus L7 sibling as US Cellular's upcoming Splendor shows there's some hope for a stateside cameo.

iPhone 5 shipping times slip to 2-3 weeks, Lightning port adapter shipments push to October

Last evening, Apple made the iPhone 5, new iPods and a slew of its accessory products available on its online store. The excitement surrounding the occasion was certainly there. Just an hour after sales began, shipping estimates for the iPhone 5 have already began slipping to 2-3 weeks. Strangely, Verizon, AT&T and Sprint are all still advertising a 9/21 ship date.

Furthermore, Apple’s Lightning-30 pin port adaptor has also sold out, with shipments being pushed back to October. There had been some confusion last evening with some reports of Lightning adapters shipping free with iPhone  5s. Those were apparently glitches with Apple confirming the additional $30 charge.

IPHONE 5 SLEEVES NOW AVAILABLE AT COLCASAC

ColcaSac, a manufacturer of eco-friendly protective sleeves for Apple and Kindle devices revealed today that iPhone 5 sleeves are now available on its website. ColcaSac takes advantage of its track record in making custom sleeves since 2004 to quickly produce protective sleeves for the iPhone 5.
ColcaSac had been receiving favorable feedback from its customers and from notable sites such as The Next Web, Gizmodo, Gadget Mac, CNET, Tuaw, and has been cited by New York Times and green travel site Matador Network for its high quality sleeves made for the MacBook and iPad. Following the swift production and successful delivery of its sleeves for the new iPad and the MacBook Pro Retina 15" in the past months, "We expect the demand for iPhone 5 sleeves to be just as a phenomenal, if not more exceptional," says Jared Rasmussen, founder of ColcaSac Inc.
These naturally protective sleeves for the iPhone 5 are available in four styles that are creatively named after ColcaSac's rich travels from around the world. There's the Uintah that's lifted from the mountains in Utah; Hanakapiai is a beach in northern Kauai; Zagora trails from an unforgettable camel ride in Marrakech; and Juan Valdez is inspired by the famous Colombian coffee grower icon. Each style features a minimalist yet fashionably functional design that comes with a 100% satisfaction guarantee.

A new iPhone, a new sleeve

These sleeves are based on the design characteristics of the originals collection (blend of contemporary design, functionality and high quality materials). The iPhone 5 wallet now features a color combination of light- and dark grey wool felt to create an interesting contrast and a sense of detail.

iPod shuffle updated with much-needed new hues

Apple's infamous earbuds rebranded for iPhone 5 as 'EarPods'

Yes, finally -- finally -- Apple's years-long headphone debacle may finally be at an end, with the introduction this morning of redesigned earbuds. Their new name: "EarPods." Like so many things from today's Apple press conference, the new earphones look an awful lot like a leak we saw earlier this month. Apple says the new earphones feature, "a breakthrough design for a more natural fit and increased durability, and an incredible acoustic quality typically reserved for higher-end earphones." As seen above, they feature a main and secondary grill on each "pod," and the iPhone version has an in-line remote / microphone built-in along the wire. The set looks starkly different from past Apple earphone offerings -- no rubber, distinctly less visible metal, and an all-plastic outer shell.

Rather than create a plugged-up seal as most in-ear headphones do, the pods rest at edge of your ear canal, with the main port directed straight into it. Overall apparently three separate ports handling audio delivery, with the intention of maximizing airflow for sound quality. Apple claims the design results in, "overall audio quality [that's] so impressive, they rival high-end headphones that cost hundreds of dollars more." They're available today for purchase as a standalone, and will ship with the new iPod Touch, Nano, and iPhone 5. A standalone set with an inline remote / mic will cost you the same $29 price point of its predecessor -- and they're already available at the source link below.

Apple announces fifth-generation iPod touch: 4-inch screen, 6.1mm thick, Siri included, starts at $299

Today at its iPhone launch event, Apple announced yet another piece of hardware: the fifth-generation iPod touch. As rumored, it has a 4-inch display, the same 326 ppi panel used on the new iPhone 5. As you might have guessed, this is also the thinnest iPod touch to date, measuring in at 6.1mm and weighing 88 grams (3.1 ounces). On the inside, it packs an A5 chip promising seven times the graphics performance of the last-gen model. The battery is rated for 40 hours of music playback, or eight hours of video -- a slight improvement over the last-generation touch.

The rear camera has also gotten an upgrade: it's now built on a 5-megapixel sensor, paired with a backside-illuminated f/2.4 lens. It also now shoots 1080p video, and Apple has also added image stabilization. And yes, it supports the same panorama shooting feature as the iPhone 5. The front camera, meanwhile, is 720p and supports FaceTime (over WiFi only, of course -- no 4G models here).
