Judge in Brazilian 'iPhone' Trademark Lawsuit Rules in Apple's Favor

Apple has won the right to legally use the "iPhone" name in Brazil after a judge ruled in favor of the Cupertino company in an ongoing lawsuit with IGB Electronica. IGB Electronica, a Brazilian cell phone company, originally filed for the iPhone trademark in 2000 but did not use the name until December of 2012 when it released a line of IPHONE Android phones. 

Following the launch of the Android IPHONEs, Brazil's Institute for Industrial Property ruled that IGB had exclusive rights to the trademark as related to mobile phones. Apple appealed the decision, and on Tuesday, Judge Eduardo de Brito Fernandes overturned the ruling, denying IGB exclusive access to the iPhone mark...

iPhone 5s Inventory Said to Be 'Severely Constrained' at Launch

iPhone 5s inventories are said to be very limited at launch, according to reports from several different publications sourcing employees at Apple Retail Stores and cellular carriers.

One source told AllThingsD that an unnamed carrier will have "grotesquely unavailable inventory" and another said they were disappointed with the shipments of the phone from Apple. BGR likewise said 5s supply would be "severely constrained"...

iPhone 5S prices revealed by EE

The cheapest 4G deal for the 5S costs £26 per month for a paltry 500MB of data. On that plan, the 5S costs £260 up front for the 16GB model, £350 for the 32GB version, and £420 for the 64GB model.

The cheapest up-front cost of the 5S is £20, on a £51 monthly deal that nets you 20GB of data.

The cheapest up front cost for the 32GB model is £130, while the best price for the 64GB version is £230. 

The 16GB 5S is also available on 3G deals from Orange and T-Mobile, starting at £100...

iPhone 5c Launch Day Supplies Generally Holding Up Well as Pre-Orders Begin

Six hours after it became available for pre-order in ten countries, most configurations of Apple's new iPhone 5c remain available for launch day delivery on the Apple Online Store and through mobile phone carriers. 

Specifically, Apple's website is showing that the phone has slipped to 1-2 weeks delivery for customers in Hong Kong, with the United States, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Singapore, and the United Kingdom still showing delivery fulfillment of September 20 except for outlying areas in some countries...

Online Orders for iPhone 5s Begin at 12:01 AM Pacific Time on Friday, September 20

While Apple and its carrier partners launched pre-orders for the iPhone 5c today at 12:01 AM, the company is not offering pre-orders for the new iPhone 5s model, despite both models becoming available next Friday, September 20. 

In an email sent out to Apple customers today promoting the start of iPhone 5c pre-orders, the company also confirmed that orders for the iPhone 5s will similarly go live at 12:01 AM Pacific Time on September 20. (In an apparent error, the company's email says Pacific Standard Time, but Daylight Saving Time remains in effect until early November...

iPhone 5C costs just £50 on O2

O2 has revealed its first prices for the iPhone 5S and 5C -- and the colourful 5C can be yours for just £50.

Despite being embarrassingly left out of Apple's presentation, O2 has offered up a couple of deals that will get you a new iPhone -- including a deal to nab you a 16GB iPhone 5C for £50 if you pay £32 per month.

That's a reasonable amount of money to fork out up-front -- for an iPhone, anyway; there are much cheaper phones and deals available away from Apple -- as long as you're happy with 750GB of 3G data and 600 minutes of talk-time every four weeks...

Apple Announces iPhone 5s With 'Touch ID' Fingerprint Sensor

At its media event today, Apple introduced the new iPhone 5s. In line with expectations, the iPhone 5s will be the same size and design and the current iPhone 5 but will feature improved specifications and will be available in three colors: Silver, Gold, and Space Gray.

Internally, the iPhone 5s will feature a 64-bit A7 processor that will be up to twice as fast at CPU tasks. Another significant new feature is a "Touch ID" capacitive fingerprint sensor built into the home button that's capable of scanning sub-epidermal skin layers. Touch ID can be used to unlock an iPhone and authorize iTunes purchases...

A new raft of iPhones is upon us! The iPhone 5S, with its gold-coloured metal back and the cheaper, plastic iPhone 5C. But how do these new models compare against the top Android phones, the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the HTC One?
